JaVale currently plays for the Denver Nuggets, which is ranked as the 11th youngest team in the league (25.7 years old) but also 11th in player experience (4.8 years). The franchise was founded in 1967, although initially they were known as the Denver Larks, changing the name a year later to the Rockets, which they kept for 7 years, and finally changing to their current name in 1974.
The Nuggets play their home games in the Pepsi Center, which is also home to the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL. The team is led by the three-time league champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, Coach Brian Shaw, who took over the leadership after a few years as assistant coach. Shaw has put his confidence in JaVale as the starting center for the team, where he has become a key for the defense, after a spectacular year in the 2012-2013 season, and after a Sixth Man of the Year nomination.
For the 2012-2013 season, the Nuggets introduced a new gold alternate jersey, replacing the navy blue jerseys that they used for the previous seven seasons. The new uniform brings back the classic “Rainbow Skyline” logo.
